Winter Quiet Yoga Nidra for Sleep

The two meditation variations here end with a prompt to sleep, rather than to return to a waking state as in the last post. The short dark days of winter are good for slowing down, catching up on rest and sleep, and cultivating dreams.

If you are looking for a pause in your day to calm your nervous system and reduce stress but not sleep, try the ☀️ waking hours versions of Winter Quiet.

Winter Quiet Elements

There are periods of breath awareness, a body scan/ rotation of consciousness (and an option below with NO body scan), feeling sensations of being restless and of being content to be still, and a visualization of being warm, cozy, and relaxed on a winter day.

Rather than intention setting, I opted for a focus on the heart center and sensations of unconditional love. If you have an intention you like to use you can set it before you begin.

It ends with a prompt to guide you back to full consciousness. As always, I can’t promise that the prompt will wake you from a deep restful sleep.

Winter Quiet for Sleep - NO Body Scan

In the variation below the body scan has been removed, the rest of the meditation is the same. It ends with a prompt to guide you back to full consciousness. Again, no guarantees that the prompt will wake you from a deep restful sleep.
